The implications of an organization's structure on whistleblowing
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine if organizational structure influences employees' decision to report or not to report observed wrongdoing. The effects of five organizational structures were analyzed, namely, horizontal, centralized, matrix, hybrid and divisional. Results indicate that organizational structure with clear and open channels for disclosure of unethical behavior encourage employees to use these channels. However, organizations with poor communication channels and which operate under a hierarchical system will most likely have less employees reporting ill-behavior.

Whistleblowing: a restrictive definition and interpretation
Article Abstract:
The complexities inherent to whistleblowing has made it one of the most difficult terminologies to describe in business ethics. Used generally to denote the act of exposing misdeeds, the concept of whistleblowing has been associated with legislative rewards or actions. By carefully analyzing the disclosure context of the term, particularly its moral and ethical implications, a comprehensive and consistent definition of whistleblowing may be obtained.
