Times they are a-changin' - and so are we!

Article Abstract:

A member of the Baby Boom generation reflects on aging as he approaches his 50th birthday. In his state of Washington, 65% of lawyers are Baby boomers. Members of this generation have witnesses a great deal of social change and are perhaps returning to traditional values. Physically, they receive reminders that they are not getting any younger. Those who still look young may have had some help from plastic surgery.

Synthetic leases have pliable uses; they treat tenants as tenants for financial purposes but as owners for tax purposes

Article Abstract:

Synthetic leases allow tenants to act as owners for tax purposes and reap the benefits of deduction otherwise afforded to lessors. Lease purchase agreements are common components of synthetic leases. A lease must qualify as an operating lease rather than a capital lease in order for it to qualify as a synthetic lease. Synthetic leases are an innovative option for financing real estate.

Court reporters now offer a diversity of services; they can provide, at low cost condensed transcripts, instant disks and keyword indexes

Article Abstract:

Technological innovations in court reporters' services make the practice of law, and especially discovery, more time efficient and effective, have gone unnoticed by significant portions of the legal profession. Almost instantly condensed, edited and indexed transcripts facilitate discovery and can reduce its cost.
