There is a trend towards detailed time-management of childrens leisure time by well meaning parents. Schools are assigning required reading lists and supplementary homework over vacation time. Concern is expressed over the danger of forgetting the importance of play and unstructured, undirected activities, with reference being made to the importance of reading for pleasure.
