Filing N-400 for naturalization

Article Abstract:

A former associate editor describes the new immigration rules in the US shifting laws which suggest that all immigrants may be considered unwelcome guests unless they apply to become part of the nation's family and prove they have undergone sufficient adaptation to become 'naturalized'. Eligibility for US citizenship requires that an applicant should be a resident for at least five years where the Paperwork Reduction Act Notice estimates to complete Form N-400 for naturalization.

The shadow of her smile

Article Abstract:

An account of a nine year old girl who was raped by an unidentified man in the wreck of a barn is presented. She was born without the seventh cranial nerve's terminal branches that allow facial movements and hence was not able to smile and after the years of her glum expression and the shunning that resulted, she still wanted to smile.

The trapezoidal mind

Article Abstract:

A writer describes trapezoidalism as the flypaper to which its devotees are stuck where its theories have no internal, self-earned, or objective validity and no inherent attraction for the mind. Trapezoids value literacy and they read rabidly, but their reading is narrowly focused, repitative, uncritical, partisan.
