Florida voters pass referendum expanding state public records law
Article Abstract:
The Florida Supreme Court, in Feb 1992, ruled that the state's open records law applied only to local governments, the state's executive branch and its agencies. In response, state legislators sponsored an amendment to Florida's Constitution to broaden the law's application to all branches of the government and to narrow exemptions. In Nov 1992, Florida's voters approved the amendment by 82% of the vote.
