City cannot carry Fox News Channel on government cable
Article Abstract:
The US 2nd Circuit Court ruled that a government channel in New York City could not be used to carry a commercial news program, Fox News Channel, because it violated the federal Cable Act of 1984 and the cable company's rights to choose its commercial programming. However, the issue between Time Warner and Fox News Channel was resolved as part of an antitrust suit between Time Warner and News Corp., with the City giving a government channel to the Fox News Channel.

Article Abstract:
The US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled in Deteresa v. ABC, Inc. that California's confidential communications law did not cover a conversation on a newsworthy topic with a person identified as a reporter. An ABC camera crew secretly recorded a conversation between a reporter and a flight attendant who had worked on O.J. Simpson's flight to Chicago after his alleged murder of his wife.
