Judge allowed to order production of index of withheld documents
Article Abstract:
The New Hampshire Supreme Court ruled in Union Leader Corp. v. State Housing Finance Authority a contractor for state housing projects must compile a list of requested documents that the contractor wished to withhold. Reporters for two New Hampshire newspapers requested the documents for a story about alleged inappropriate lending practices for the housing project development. The Court ruled the state trial court had the right to order the index and also order release of all documents if the index did not adequately describe them for the purpose of deciding whether they were protected.

Disclosure of newsletter address list not privacy invasion
Article Abstract:
The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled in Oregon Natural Desert Ass'n v. Bibles that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) had to release mailing lists to an environmental protection group. The BLM maintained a mailing list of individuals and organizations that received its newsletter. The BLM cited privacy concerns in denying access to the mailing list. The Court found that the privacy concerns were so minimal that the organization's interest in countering BLM policies overrode the need to protect the individuals listed on the mailing list.
