Letters from our father
Article Abstract:
Jules Verne and H.G. Wells are generally referred to as the founding fathers of science fiction in standard reference volumes and Wells alone is frequently considered the father of modern science fiction. Yet Wells never took his achievements in this or the fantasy genre too seriously and almost had nothing to do with the science fiction community in the last 40 years of his life until his death in 1946. He considered the real world fantastic and terrible and thus ignored rather than scorned the science fiction genre. His letters may provide a fascinating view of the author's mind.
