The public has been overly engrossed with the scandalous affairs of the rich and famous. This is caused by the widespread and instantaneous nature of media and the present trend of self-righteousness. This is detrimental as a whole because it distracts people from the more important things.

Article Abstract:
Science education is lagging due to antiquated teaching ideas. The metric system, for example, should be taught by showing children physically how long a centimeter is and how much a kilogram weighs so that they have a physical sense of metrics and not a math equation.

Making public funds available for qualified persons to attend college is a good idea, provided that education is not simplified to accommodate more people. If unqualified people were admitted to colleges the degree would become meaningless.
