Covert newsgathering tactics: debating deceptions
Article Abstract:
The use of covert newsgathering tactics in investigative journalism is being threatened by court decisions punishing news organizations that employ it. This is unfortunate because this technique has been used over the years to uncover unethical and illegal practices in business as well as government. It is quite effective in covering stories that greatly concern the public in times when no other approach is possible.
