State allows release of some material from teacher's letters
Article Abstract:
The Connecticut Supreme Court has ruled that the state's Freedom of Information Commission (FOIC) can order the disclosure of information from personal letters with non-disclosable parts redacted and such action will not violate exemptions under the state's Freedom of Information Act. A board of education superintendent and football coach had sued to prevent the coach's letters from being disclosed, but the court ruled that the disclosure was within the power of the FOIC.

Court restricts access to business reports
Article Abstract:
The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has ruled that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) does not have to allow access to records given to it voluntarily by the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). The Critical Mass Energy Project of Public Citizen requested INPO records from the NRC under the Freedom of Information Act, but the court ruled the INPO records qualify as commercial information exempt from access under the act.
