Article Abstract:
Federal district courts ruled in Lurie v. Department of Defense and Porter v. United States Postal Service that, in cases very much in the public eye, the newsworthiness of information trumped privacy interests the individuals might have in it. The first was information on an Army medical researcher whose statements spurred a $20 mil congressional appropriation, and the second, a case in concerning postmaster criticisms of subordinate workers to the media.
