Watchdog journalism worth time, money and manpower
Article Abstract:
The Toxic Legacy case on the continuing environmental damage that was caused by a long closed Ford Motor Co. assembly plant, which generated tremendous amount of toxic waste, is a perfect example of good watchdog journalism. The story span was half-a- century and therefore needed a big commitment of manpower, money, resources and creativity but it was all worthwhile as it helped in drawing attention to the problem.

"Gotcha journalism": credibility and depth or lack of restraint?

Robert Snyder who was the editor of The Media Studies Journal discussed that "gotcha journalism"was co-sponsored by the First Amendment Center and IRE. This journal featured single-minded criticism, automatic journalistic defensiveness and thoughtful analysis of the relations between journalists and the publics they serve.
