Crisis, what crisis?
Article Abstract:
British Broadcasting Corporation Ltd Deputy Controller Andy Parfitt defends his policy of focusing the station's output on listeners who are within the 15 to 24-year-old age group. Radio 1 listeners have fallen in number to 9.7 million per week in Aug 1997 from 10.3 million. Parfitt does not plan to make any radical changes at the station despite the decline in the number of listeners. Parfitt constantly monitors the stations's musical output. He does not intend to introduce any well known presenters to the station and has reduced the input of independent production companies.

Weekend warrior: As a former dancer and boxer, LWT controller of entertainment Nigel Lythgoe has had the perfect training for keeping ITV's entertainment output on its toes. But can he also keep one step ahead of the critics?
Article Abstract:
Nigel Lythgoe is controller of entertainment at LWT and is the brains behind the new Ice Warriors show. He believes the show has a good future, despite a fall in viewings in its second week, and that it sits comfortably alongside Gladiators, another of is programmes. Lythgoe has previously pursued both boxing and dancing careers, and was a member of the BBC Dance Group's Young Generation in 1968, moving on to choreograph over 500 shows around the world. This led him into producing and directing, and his appointment as head of entertainment LWT, later to become controller.
