Not a pretty picture
Article Abstract:
Cartoons have consistently ridiculed the US Congress and its leaders. Cartoonists often portray the Congress as inefficient, confused, and lacking a democratic approach. The proceedings of the Congress provide ample targets for the cartoonists. Cartoons from the 20th century are not as intricately executed as the 19th century cartoons due to the demands of mass newspaper circulation. A review of the last 200 years of political cartoons shows that cartoonists are far more critical today. Americans' loss of respect for the Congress has led to the poor representation of Congress members.

Hang-Up on Progress?
Article Abstract:
The price of AT&T (American Telephone and Telegraph Co.) stock and the stock of the spin-off companies have held up through the divestiture. Political pressure has forced the deregulation originally sought to be delayed on some issues, access charges being one of them. Public interests groups are seeking to maintain or lower rates around the country. If the FCC's original plan for deregulation were followed, rates would decrease and thousands of jobs would be created.
