Article Abstract:

The success of Mal Young as the BBC controller for drama series is discussed. He states that the role of controller requires a great deal of multitasking where one of the essential skills is the ability of not being affected by tabloid exclusive and maintaining a symbiotic relationship between the tabloids and soaps.

The British Broadcasting Corp. has announced the return of the "Doctor Who" series in 2005, with Christopher Eccleston playing the main lead. The show will have a new generation of writers, and enhanced special effects to compete with American sci-fi programs like Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.
