Antitrust settlements and trial outcomes
Article Abstract:
The developed econometric model considers antitrust case settlements as functions of the variance and mean of the parties' attitudes toward their success at trial. Results show that the chances for plaintiffs to succeed in antitrust trials depend on the antitrust allegation, jurisdiction, company size, industry and on whether or not a jury trial is held. To conclude, defendants are not worried about the effects of reputation. In addition, risk aversion was found to have both qualitative and quantitative effects on the settlement of antitrust cases.

Tests of the specification of univariate and bivariate ordered probit
Article Abstract:
A specification test of the basis for univariate and bivariate ordered probit reveals that the ordered probit model results in multiple cell probabilities resulting from plotting the possible values of a dependent variable. The study proposes and uses a univariate and bivariate ordered probit estimation of normality and exogeneity assumptions through a specification test.
