The impact of affirmative action on labor demand: a test of some implications of the Le Chatelier principle
Article Abstract:
The impact of affirmative action is studied in relation with the Le Chatelier principle. The program, as a series of hiring quotas, is also evaluated for its effects on the costs of production, elasticity of demand for inputs and ability to substitute between most inputs. Results indicate that the behavior of firms is siginificantly constrained by the affirmative action program.

The demand for tax return preparation services
Article Abstract:
Taxpayer preferences for different income tax preparation services are studied based on twelve methods of assistance among practitioners, paid preparers, nonpaid preparers and self-preparation. A greater demand for practitioners results from increases in penalty occurrences and Internal Revenue Service audits.

Testing dynamic specification of factor demand equations for U.S. manufacturing
Article Abstract:
The Berndt-Wood data set is expanded and used to show that restrictions are imposed on the dynamic behavior of the factor demand model when restricted variable cost function forms the basis for the models. Tests of different models fail to resolve the issue of dynamic specification.
