Welfare transfers in two-parent families: labor supply and welfare participation under AFDC-UP
Article Abstract:
A study of the Aid to Families with Dependent Children - Unemployed Parent (AFDC-UP) program reveals certain trends involving labor supply, after-tax transfer income, and welfare participation. The effect of work disincentives and changes in welfare participation are larger under the AFDC-UP program, which involves two-parent households, than those observed under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program involving cases headed only by a female.

Estimating the labor market impact of voluntary military service using Social Security data on military applicants
Article Abstract:
Military personnel who served in the 1980s earned more than comparable civilians while still in the military. Moreover, veterans had higher earnings than nonveterans and were more likely to be employed. Military service was also correlated with higher employment rates for veterans, However, military service only modestly increased earnings of nonwhite veterans after they had served in the military while also reducing the earnings of white veterans.

A liquidity-based model of security design
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the problem of the design and sale of a security backed by a fixed set of assets. Results show that the choice of security design determines if companies will profit or have losses in investing in this type of security. In addition, security design also affects the market liquidity or the elasticity of the demand for the security. It is advised that companies issue separate securities for their assets.
