Euro-Art receives Cobra go-ahead
Article Abstract:
The Euro-Art consortium has received a contract worth about $211 million for the production of Counterbattery Radar (COBRA) weapon locating radars for the armies of Germany, France and the UK. The vehicle-mounted, high-mobility COBRA system is based on a solid-state 3,000-gallium-arsenide-transceiver active antenna which utilizes phase-to-hase beam steering and sidelobe gain that is optimized to the system's transmit/receive pattern of the moment. The COBRA is configured to detect small radar cross section targets across the entire battle area, and categorize the ammunition types and firing modes being employed. The Euro-ARt consortium encompasses Siemens Defence Electronics Group, Lockheed Martin, Thomson-CSF AIRSYS, and Racal Radar Defence Systems.

Ericsson to team with Thomson-CSF on AEW&C systems
Article Abstract:
Ericsson Microwave Systems of Sweden has signed a memorandum of understanding with Thomson-CSF Radars & Contremesures of France encompassing the development, manufacture and marketing of airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) systems for the international market. The two contractors will initially focus on marketing a NATO-compliant system that is based on Ericsson's E/F-band Erieye electronically scanned radar, and can include slots for interoperability and integration with an electronic support subsystem. The collaborative effort will ultimately expand to possibly focus on upgrading the existing Erieye capability, as well as the development of new-generation AEW&C systems.
