MV-22 status
Article Abstract:
The MV-22 Osprey is undergoing Operational Evaluation (OPEVAL) trials following the successful completion of the Engineering and Manufacturing Development sea trials. The OPEVAL testing will determine whether the helicopter is effective and suitable for the Marine Corps in the 21st century. Depending on the outcome of the OPEVAL trials, full rate production of the helicopter is expected in FY 2001.

MV-22 undergoes sea trials
Article Abstract:
The MV-22 Osprey military aircraft went through several sea trials that began in Jan 1999. The main features tested were the aircraft launch and recovery envelope and aircraft/shipboard compatibility. Testing was discontinued due to a software glitch in the flight control system. Among the vital operational moves tested by MV-22 were takeoffs, night flying and landing with engine malfunction.

Light/attack helicopter operations in the three block war
Article Abstract:
The Marine light/attack helicopter squadron (HMLA) is a vital factor in Marine air-ground task force operations. The HMLA is flexible enough to work on a continuous basis across different urban operations and even in extreme light and weather conditions. The support that HMLA provides covers precision firing, medical evacuation, command and control, confined area insert or extract and escort.
