'Predeployment' training at U.K. Cape Wrath range
Article Abstract:
Three of the US Navy's warships were forced to complete their predeployment training at Cape Wrath, Scotland, because of the indefinite closing of the target range on Vieques, Puerto Rico. The ships include the Arleigh Burke-class Aegis guided-missile destroyer USS Mahan and the Ticonderoga-class Aegis guided-missile cruisers USS Anzio and USS Cape St. George. They proceeded to the Mediterranean Sea following the completion of the military exercise.

An active and acceptable presence
Article Abstract:
The US Coast Guard (USCG) serves an important role in conducting active and acceptable operations beyond the territorial waters of the US as part of peacekeeping support. For instance, the deployment of USCG cutters to the Mediterraean in support of NATO Operational Allied Force as well as in the Pacific Rim for six months highlights the growing importance of the service.
