Article Abstract:

A course for ethnographic films as images used to document patterns of culture is described. The course provides an overview of concepts of ethnographic filmmaking, visual representation and visual anthropology. It discusses visual anthropology trends' relationship to documentary, approaches to visual documentation, recording strategies, ethics and questions of power and power relations. Other issues examined in the course include the clash between cartesian subjectivities derived from industrial societies and the notion of the scientifically unexplainable.

Article Abstract:

The course called 'Studies in Genre' explores mainly the horror genre, and uses it as a case study for more general theories of genre. The primary focus is on theory and application of genre as an exegetic tool. The course treats film studies, communication and literary analysis in broader cultural and academic context. The courses's modular design allows inclusion of other genres in successive semesters. The course encourages critical thinking in students by using several approaches and tools when analyzing texts.

Course file: An integrated approach to teaching production and Entertainment Law

Article Abstract:

A course focusing on Entertainment Law is developed and offered to students as an industry course to help them become better prepared to enter the industry. It is found to provide an excellent learning opportunity not only for those enrolled in the Entertainment Law class but also for many radio-TV-film majors.
