Article Abstract:
Audiophiles have always been suspicious of data compression techniques in digital reproduction. However, listening tests of Philips' Precision Adaptive Sub-band Coding (PASC) compression system used in the Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) reveal that even sophisticated listeners cannot detect PASC compression.

DCC and MD: techno-toys?
Article Abstract:
Both DCC and MD utilize complex new data compression technologies which are not yet qualitative matches for the compact disc (CD). Quality considerations, high costs and the economic recession may doom either or both products.
