Recordable CD: promises and problems

Several recordable CD technologies are competing for commercial attention: magneto-optical recording, phase-change recording, and dye-polymer technology. The merits and drawbacks of each are discussed, including sound quality and manufacturing processes. A brief bibliography is also provided.

SRS: surround sound with only two speakers
Article Abstract:
SRS processes stereo sound so that the directional cues by which the ear processes sounds from a 360-degree room environment are simulated by the 2-loudspeaker SRS source. A detailed technical explanation of the invention and a bibliography are provided.
