The problems of traditional two-channel stereo and multichannel approaches to solving them
Article Abstract:
Two-channel stereo systems do not have realistic directional qualities, and only one listener can hear a system properly. Efforts to produce multichannel sound have included quadraphonics, Dolby Surround and Home THX. New technologies for digital, discrete multichannel sound are discussed.

HVCD: more bass in less space; a new approach to subwoofer design

Polk Audio has developed a new method for creating small bass speakers with powerful output at very low frequencies. The HCVD technology is based on bandpass woofers with extremely efficient, high moving mass drivers. Advice on how to construct an HVCD loudspeaker is presented.
