This article examines the efforts to make computer systems in Australia ready for the year 2000 (Y2K), as described by Rich Ormond of MatriDigm, a company that audits attempts at Y2K compliance. Relevant points include the forecast that no catastrophic computer failure should come with the new year even though 65% of Australian companies remain unprepared for Y2K, and the application of Y2K methods in the post-millennium world.
