Austal CEO John Rothwell is head of a world leader in aluminum shipbuilding technology. The firm has a nearly full order book, despite a sharp drop in orders in 2000, with the promise that it may see an increase in orders for fast ferries and patrol craft. Expansion of operations into the US and Europe is also possible.

A new carrier?

Australia is being asked by the United States military to have a joint development of a mini aircraft carrier, the Australian ocean-going technology, two of which are in service in the Persian Gulf. As catamaran fast ships are getting bigger, the U.S. is now moving to a mini carrier.
