AOL, Microsoft prepare for Net battle

Microsoft is expected to continue to its quest for online dominance after failing to forge an alliance with AOL Time Warner. On the other hand, the latter is expected to come up with creative ways to deliver its lineup of music, magazines and movies to Internet users. Talks between the two companies bogged down after AOL refused to remove RealNetworks' media player from its service that would have been bundled with Microsoft's Windows XP operating system.
