Airline workers could target holidays
Article Abstract:
Major airlines in the United States have issued warnings on the possible disruption of services during the 2000 holiday season due to contract disputes with their labor unions. The airlines believed that the unions might take action during the season to dramatize their grievances against them. For example, Northwest could face a slowdown in operations if frustrated members of its mechanics' union, which is engaged in protracted negotiations with the airline, decide to take action.

Continental delivers goods
Article Abstract:
Continental Airlines CEO Gordon Bethune believes that flyers want a dependable airline that provides a friendly, on-time service and a fair price. Although competitors have resorted to removing some seats to give passengers in the coach section some legroom, Bethune is hanging on to those seats. He is convinced that the strategy will take away seats for employees and frequent-flyers and will, eventually, lead to higher fares.
