London is increasingly becoming known as a cultural, as well as political capital. There has been a surprising amount of interest shown in the works of young, London area artists. The audiences for these works is coming to represent other demographic areas than the traditional audience. Much of the celebrated work is from the Pop art genre, which had previously not been popular in Britain.

Living room galleries
Article Abstract:
During the Fall of 1995, a major New York, NY art gallery, Grace Borgenicht Galley closed after 44 years. This event, high rents and other factors have caused art dealers to focus on salons as an alternate to the galleries. A critique of the art salon is given and some in NYC are described.

The Whitney Museum is pioneering a new form of collection-sharing by providing works for four 18-month exhibitions at the San Jose Museum of Art in California. The agreement is part of San Jose's plan to become a cultural center of northern California.
