Asia, are you listening?
Article Abstract:
Vice President Al Gore received mixed reviews when he visited Asia in Nov 1998. Although many listening to his speech at the annual meeting of Pacific Leaders in Kuala Lumpur criticized meddling into their internal affairs, others who favor reform in Malaysia and other Asian countries praised him for his courage. His speech reflected the mood of middle class and poor Asians who no longer are afraid of their governments and are demanding that they be held accountable for their actions.
