Attack on peace

Article Abstract:

A 500-pound bomb exploded in Omagh, Northern Ireland in Aug 1998, killing 28 people and injuring more than 200. It was a major setback to the peace process that had given the area a sense of stability after years of fighting. Government officials around the world condemned the terrorists and asked all sides to continue the peace process. The Northern Ireland dispute has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people since 1969.

The secrets of a mosque

Article Abstract:

Algerian journalist Reda Hassaine claims to be a spy for both the British and the French, because of his undercover work at a mosque in Finsbury Park, North London. Hassaine claims to have witnessed incidents such as cleric Abu Hamza al-Mazri vowing support for Osama bin Laden, and Zain al Abidin recruiting young Muslims for combat training.

Give peace a chance

Article Abstract:

Business activity is thriving in Northern Ireland, a sign that ordinary people have mainly gone beyond the era of the Troubles. The peace process remains in crisis, but many people have a vested interest in achieving a solution.
