Better Med than dead
Article Abstract:
The French resort and travel corporation, Club Med, suffered financial losses during the 1990s but is poised, under the leadership of former EuroDisney executive Philippe Bourgignon, to make a comeback in the 21st century. Club Med was hurt by several factors in the 1990s, including a drop in tours to Europe during and after the Gulf War, antagonism against the French for nuclear tests, mistaken Arab beliefs that Club Med was owned by Jews, and customers choosing other vacation experiences. Club Med will close underperforming resorts, refurbish others, and add programs for children in an attempt to regain market share.
