Biotech CEO injects new strategies
Article Abstract:
AltaRex Corp. founder and Chairman Antoine Noujaim has hired Richard Bagley from the US to become the company's chief executive officer. The hiring of a high-profile chief executive such as Bagley has been prompted by AltaRex's need to have someone steer the company through the challenges of getting a new drug into the market. Edmonton, Alberta-based AltaRex developed a new drug, called Ovarex, that has great potential in treating ovarian cancer. Since Bagley took over, AltaRex's headquarters was moved from Edmonton to Waltham, MA, to bring it within the huge US market; clinical trials for Ovarex is underway, while a second drug for solid-tumour cancer treatment is expected to begin clinical trials; and, AltaRex will issue share on the Nasdaq Stock Market to generate capital.
