The Rankin family began singing traditional Gaelic songs in their Cape Breton, Canada, kitchen. Now the five younger children have sold a combined 60,000 recordings through Capitol Records-EMI of Canada, and look forward to full-time music careers with a manager.

The 26th Caribana parade was held Jul 31, 1993, in Toronto, Ontario and had 10,000 participants and over one million spectators. The parade celebrates Toronto's Caribbean community and is modeled after carnival celebrations that occur in Trinidad and Tobago.
