Bombardier clinches record jet deal
Article Abstract:
Bombardier Inc., a Montreal, Quebec-based maker of transportation equipment, has received an order for 50 Canadair Regional Jets (CRJs) from Comair Holdings Inc., a Cincinnati, OH-based operator of regional jet fleets. The 10-year deal, valued at $1 billion, or C$1.5 billion, is so far the largest order that Bombardier received. Comair's orders, which involve 30 50-seat and 20 70-seat CRJs, also raised the value of the orders Bombardier received since the start of September 1998 to nearly $2.8 billion.

Bombardier flies the unfriendly skies
Article Abstract:
Bombardier Inc is facing a bright future despite some critics who say otherwise. Naysayers say the company's present and future are threatened by the potential removal of subsidies and a drying up of the market for regional airliners. Critics are also not thrilled by the underperformance of the company's recreational products division. Many analysts, however, say these problems have been blown out of proportions.
