Bordering on bloodshed
Article Abstract:
This article describes the threat of further terror facing 200,000 East Timorese refugees now in Indonesian-controlled West Timor as a result of having been forced out of East Timor by anti-independence militias allied to the Indonesian military. Relevant details include the use of "hit lists" by the militias to identify and murder pro-independence refugees, Indonesia's plans to relocate the refugees to other islands, and the complications that these human rights abuses pose to peacekeeping operations in East Timor.
