Breakdown in discipline
Article Abstract:
The occurrence of school violence is perceived to be related to the breakdown of discipline in schools. This breakdown started in the 1920s when the educational ideal of giving students more freedoms germinated. The ideal later metamorphosed into a way of life for students that promotes personal autonomy and outright defiance of all forms of authority. The old image of schools as orderly and respectable can only be resurrected if teachers will once again assert their rightful authority over the students and enforce stricter disciplinary rules.

Behind the violence
Article Abstract:
Various factors cause teenagers to commit violence by using guns. Among these factors are availability of guns, influence of television, economic problems and drug dealing. However, psychologists claim that child abuse can be another reason for the commission of violence by teenagers. They say that teenagers who were subjected to extreme physical and emotional punishment in childhood usually become desensitized to human sufferings. Hence, when they become older, they can hurt or kill people without feeling any guilt or remorse.
