CBS exec clears up picture

CBS President Mel Karmazin dismissed reports that the company's CBS Television Network is for sale. Karmazin said CBS can dow business with any of the movie studios as a buyer of their products CBS, which hopes to turn a profit in 1999, is leaning on new shows that replaced such programs as Family Matters, Cybill and Murphy Brown to improve its ratings. Karmazin, who became rich at Infinity Broadcasting, said the company is not interested on buying more cable networks as of the moment. He is the largest shareholder in CBS.
