CHINA: CNTOMI TAKEN OVER BY HELLOASIA
Article Abstract:
Chinese provider of enterprise software that covers the fields of e-commerce, sales and Internet-based communications, CNtomi, is now carrying new corporate identity as HelloAsia China. This is following takeover of its equity interests by Hong Kong-based e-business solutions provider, HelloAsia. HelloAsia has paid one-half of purchase consideration in cash terms and the remaining in shares. With the completion of the acquisition, HelloAsia China's staff will be added to HelloAsia's workforce, which now has the size of 140 persons. Enterprise software offered by the Chinese firm is ideal to be used by application service providers (ASPs) and corporate entities.

CHINA: IAMASIA'S STUDY REVEALED LOWER WEB USAGE

Significantly lower than 20 mn Chinese web users reported by China Internet Network Information Centre on 10 January 2001, such figure only stands at 15.2 mn persons, according to survey made a firm. The firm, Interactive Audience Measurement Asia (iamasia) that has compiled the figures from a sampling size of 31,210 persons conducted the survey in 13 Chinese cities. During June-December 2000, size of China's Internet population has increased by 15.4%, according to iamasia. Meanwhile, proportion of Chinese Web users that are unhappy with online shopping hit 41%. Online trading has so far being performed by one-tenth of Chinese interviewees.
