Cambodia: the war drags on
Article Abstract:
Cambodia was taken over by a communist guerilla party called Khmer Rouge, having been left vulnerable by both US and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Under the Khmer Rouge, Cambodia was socially restructured with an estimated number of 2 million people killed. The attempt by Khmer Rouge to reclaim Vietnamese territory led to Vietnam's retaliation and eventual occupation. Vietnam did not relinquish their hold on Cambodia until 1989.
