Cameco releases reports on spill
Article Abstract:
Saskatoon, Saskatch-based Cameco Corp. released new health reports to control the damage to its image resulting from a cyanide spill in Kyrgyzstan, Russia. The cyanide spill in a remote river in Kyrgyzstan on May 20, 1998, reportedly caused illness to victims numbering at more than 2,000 in the area. Cameco's health reports, which were conducted by two World Health Organization experts, placed doubts on the validity of estimates that cited that the cyanide spill brought illness to more than 2,000 patients.
