Airlines are starting to wake-up to the possibility of loosing millions of dollars in revenue if they fail to match internet sites offering customers direct access to competitive fares without the burden of infrastructure. Travel agents are also feeling nervous because they handle approximately 80% of the international bookings out of Australia and stand to loose millions of dollars in commissions.

Boeing Co may significantly affect business executive air travel with its concept of jet time shares. The aircraft in this program is the Boeing Business Jet, in which fractional shares will be sold that permit executives to fly at a significant discount from commercial rates. Part of the savings comes from access to fuel for approximately half the cost corporate operators usually pay.
