Corel offers licences to pirates in novel amnesty program

Article Abstract:

Ottawa-based software company Corel Corp. has launched an amnesty program that would allow illegal users of its WordPerfect office software to buy a license for the software for $29. Those who avail of the program will be able to get the next upgrade for WordPerfect for the same $95 which will be paid by users who have been legal all along. The company's strategy aims to tap the underground software market, which is estimated at around 50% of the entire $11.4 billion software industry.
