Ford extends warranty on some V-6 engines
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co has decided to extend the warranty for the 3.8-liter V-6 engines installed in 1994 and 1995 models of Mercury Cougars, Thunderbirds and Mustangs. The move, which will cost the carmaker over $200 million, allows the owners of the over 1 million vehicles involved to obtain a refund on repairs already done or get a $4,000 certificate to be used on their next purchase of a Ford vehicle of the same make. Ford is responding to complaints regarding a faulty head gasket on the V-6 engine.

DaimlerChrysler expands tire monitors
Article Abstract:
DaimlerChrysler AG announced on Jun 7, 2001, that it would expand the use of tire pressure monitoring systems in its vehicles ahead of a federal mandate signed into law in 2000 requiring such systems by 2003. The automaker said it will offer the devices on all 2002 models. The system, which was three years in the making, has sensors built into the wheels that relay pressure readings to a receiver in the passenger compartment. An alarm goes off if the pressure is too low or too high.
