Execs say discord pushed Ivester out of Coke
Article Abstract:
The sudden resignation of Coca-Cola CEO M. Douglas Ivester was due to his differences with the soft drinks giant's board of directors according to former Coke officials and knowledgeable sources. Discord between Ivester and the board intensified after Coke put into effect a management reorganization on Oct 29, 1999. Coke had posted several quarters of poor sales and was embarrassed by a product recall and a public relations disaster in Belgium. Ivester chose to retire rather than be ordered by the board how he should manage the company.

Coke pushes on with new ad campaign to 'enjoy'
Article Abstract:
The Coca-Cola Co has announced its intention to initiate a new advertising and marketing campaign in Jan 2000. The new marketing campaign is being promoted by Charles Frenette, Coke's chief marketing officer. Frenette will replace Coke's 'Always' tagline with 'Enjoy.' "Enjoy' was chosen to counter Pepsi's 'The joy of Cola' slogan. The new campaign will not be focused on TV commercials. Coke also announced a reintroduction of its green glass contour bottle and a prize-in-the-can promotion.
