Jet crew did more harm than good, survivors say
Article Abstract:
Two survivors of the Singaporean Airlines crash that killed 81 people in Taiwan accused the plane's crew members of failing to help passengers trapped in the burning jet. One of the two, Steven Courtney of Portland, OR, said minutes after the crash, flight attendants stood panic-stricken and could not show passengers how to unlock the escape hatches. Courtney added that after escaping from the jet, the crew members fled the scene and refused to help victims lying on the runway.

Airbus A320 known as safe, dependable jet
Article Abstract:
Airbus Industrie's A320 jet has gained recognition as one of the safest, most technologically sophisticated aircraft in existence since its debut in 1988. It has also, since then, enjoyed what experts consider an excellent safety record, with a history of hardly any problems. Airbus Industrie has manufactured more than 1,000 A320 aircraft since 1988, although as of Jul 2000, a total of only 191 of the planes are in service in the US due to the popularity of the Boeing 737.
