U.S., global competition to set change into motion
Article Abstract:
China has finally forged a trade pact with the US that will clear the way for its entrance into the 134-nation World Trade Organization. Its government has agreed to eliminate or loosen restrictions on what foeign business enterprises can do in China and to cut tariffs from 22.1% to an average 17%. It is believed that WTO membership would considerably reshape the Chinese economy during the 21st century. Most analysts are in consensus that some foreign competition will strengthen China's economy.

Tidal wave of TV ads overwhelms some Chinese
Article Abstract:
Excessive television advertising has caused many Chinese viewers to rebel. South Korean manufacturer LG is being sued by one viewer over the violent content of its advertisement for air conditioners. Many viewers filed a complaint with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television over the blitz of advertising on television. However, despite being fed up with excessive advertising, many Chinese consumers still respond to advertisements.
