Flames of racial tension: a spate of church burnings angers blacks

More than 30 African American churches in nine different southern states have caught fire during the last 18 months, raising fears that racially-motivated arson is on the rise. However, only a few of the fires have been linked to anti-black groups, but authorities are investigating.
